We look forward to seeing you again at Propak 2026 where we hope to showcase some of our new products!

Gas Sensors Head

The gas sensor head is the front-end component that directly detects the target gas.
It contains the gas-sensitive element (sensor) that reacts to the presence of a specific gas — such as oxygen (O₂), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH₄), or hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).

In many designs, the sensor head is replaceable — meaning you can keep the same detector body and just swap the sensor head when:

  • The sensing element expires (typical lifespan: 2–3 years)
  • You want to monitor a different gas type

This modular setup makes maintenance and calibration easier.

Gas Sensor Head and Fixed Gas Detector

The gas sensor head is the core sensing part inside a fixed gas detector.
Without the sensor head, the detector cannot “smell” or identify gases.
The fixed gas detector provides the housing, electronics, and communication needed to make the sensor’s signal useful and safe.

How a Gas Sensor Head Works

A gas sensor head is the primary sensing element in a gas detection system. It detects specific gas concentrations in the air and sends signals to a control unit or gas detector panel for real-time monitoring. Gas sensor heads are used in various industries to ensure safety, prevent hazardous gas leaks, and comply with environmental regulations.

Gas sensor heads contain specialized sensors that react to the presence of specific gases. When the gas concentration reaches a certain level, the sensor generates an electrical signal that triggers alarms, ventilation, or shutdown systems.

  • Detect toxic gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), and chlorine (Cl₂).
  • Used for detecting gases like carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), and hydrocarbons.
  • Measure combustible gases such as propane, butane, and hydrogen.
  • Detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous chemicals.
  • Respond to gases like ammonia (NH₃) and refrigerants.

Features of Gas Sensor Heads

  • High Sensitivity & Accuracy – Provides precise gas concentration readings.
  • Long Lifespan – Designed for extended use with minimal maintenance.
  • Compatible with Gas Control Panels – Works seamlessly with single or multi-channel gas detection systems.
  • Explosion-Proof & Weather-Resistant – Available in ATEX, IECEx, and IP-rated enclosures for harsh environments.
  • Easy Calibration & Replacement – Simplified maintenance for long-term reliability.

Applications of Gas Sensor Heads

  • Industrial Safety – Detects gas leaks in factories, refineries, and chemical plants.
  • Confined Space Monitoring – Ensures safety in underground tunnels, tanks, and enclosed areas.
  • Maritime & Offshore – Used in ships, oil rigs, and storage tanks for gas detection.
  • Construction & Mining – Protects workers from toxic and explosive gases.
  • Laboratory & Research Facilities – Monitors air quality in chemical and pharmaceutical labs.
