How an Airflow Capture Hood Works
An airflow capture hood operates by measuring the volume of air passing through HVAC supply, return, or exhaust diffusers. It consists of three main components:
- Lightweight Hood – Designed to fit over vents and diffusers, ensuring accurate airflow capture.
- Flow-Sensing Instrument – Measures air velocity and calculates CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) or L/s (Liters per Second).
- Digital Display – Provides real-time airflow readings for system balancing and troubleshooting.
When placed over an air outlet, the device captures and channels the airflow into the sensing instrument, which then processes and displays the measurement.
